In an attempt to keep my desk a little tidier and to have somewhere for storage of A3 Drawings, I decided to build a desktop drawer unit. The body and drawers are made from MDF with solid shelves at each level for stiffness. The drawer faces are in stained pine and the outer body of the unit was painted in gloss black. I turned a pair of brass handles and forged a pair of split and twisted steel handles. The handles are mounted to the drawers using brass and steel rods, solid riveted into the handles and drilled and tapped for hardware fixed through the drawer fronts.
